Our History
The King George V Community Trust was established in 2009 to create a vehicle that
could take over the responsibility for the management and further development of the
King George Playing Fields as a community lead organisation.
King George V playing fields are located in Cottingham , East Riding of Yorkshire.
Please refer to appendix B of our Business Plan, for further detail on location plans.
In February 2007, the PlaySport Pavilion in King George V Playing Fields, was subject to an arson attack and resulted in substantial damage to the front if the building with severe smoke damage to the remaining parts of the building. With a refurbished building proposed, it presented the local community with an opportunity to take a bold step forward and locally manage the facility whilst continuing to enjoy partnership working with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
During August 2010 the refurbished PlaySport Pavilion was opened and an interim
management process was established. This process ensured that East Riding Leisure
Services would continue to manage the facilities whilst the KGV Trust continues to
develop the internal mechanisms to manage the amenities as a community lead
organisation.
